Business notebook: Open house at new branch

STERLING – Sauk Valley Bank’s newest branch, now open at 3319 E. Lincolnway, is celebrating with a grand opening from 9 a.m. to noon today that promises door prizes, games, animal balloons and free frozen custard.

The drive-up is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday; and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. The lobby is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

It has a wealth management division with three employees who provide investment and trust services.

Sterling couple opens pest control business

STERLING – If creepy-crawlies are causing you consternation, a new Sterling business might help.

Sauk Valley Pest Control Inc., owned by Preston and Michelle Zigler, 33 and 32, will seek and destroy ants, spiders, box elder bugs, cockroaches, and earwigs, as well as wood-destroying insects.

It offers inside and outside spraying and only with chemicals approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, said Michelle, who worked in pest control in this area for 8 years before opening her business June 4 at their home at 1301 15th Ave.
