Board to look at fees for lunch, driver's ed

Payment plan for Reagan to be discussed

DIXON – The school board will consider raising student fees 10 cents for lunch and $50 for driver's education at its meeting Wednesday.

The increase would make the new fee at Dixon High School $150 for driver's education. Lunch fees vary between students.

Also Wednesday, a recommendation will be made for the board to transfer $450,000 from the working cash fund to the life safety fund for construction projects at Reagan Middle School.

The board voted in May to tackle $745,000 of $2.9 million in renovations, including replacing deteriorating windows for $300,000, updating lighting in the newer addition for $255,000, and installing new heating, ventiliation and air-conditioning roofing units in the cafeteria for $190,000.

The district plans not to borrow any funds, or raise taxes for the work, which will be done this summer, Superintendent Michael Juenger said.

The board will have to set a public hearing for July 17 to make the transfer, which will leave about $3.48 million in the working cash fund.

About $342,960 of existing and future Life Safety funds also will help pay for the project, Juenger said.
