DIXON – Lucy Marie McClanahan, 91, of Dixon, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Lifehouse Liberty Court in Dixon. She worked for Blackhawk Photo Mount, crafting photo frames in Dixon for 22 years before retiring.
Lucy was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Stacyville, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Meurer) Blake. She married Herbert McClanahan on Sept. 1, 1942, in Tallahassee, Fla. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1990. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon. Lucy enjoyed cooking, and was much loved by family, friends, and neighbors.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Edward) Haas of Dixon and Carol (Leo “Bud”) Miller of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Jim McClanahan of Sterling; one sister, Donna Karels of Chicago; one daughter-in-law, Tena McClanahan of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Nikki (Bill) Koppara of Colorado, Scott (Lynda) Haas of Oregon, Amy (Lowell Lightenberg) Haas of Dixon, Michael McClanahan of Texas, Lori (Ricky) Smith of Tennessee, Matthew Miller of North Carolina, Cary Miller of Tennessee, and Mindy (Phil) Ouellette of Georgia; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John McClanahan; one brother, Frank Blake; and two sisters, Joanne Giuliano and Dor Smet.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Michael Morrissey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. Anne Scholarship Fund, Serenity Hospice & Home, and Lifehouse Liberty Court.
