The Community Food Pantry of Dixon would like to express our gratitude to the generous residents of Lee County, who donated 15,050 pounds of items to the May 11 postal food drive.
It was the largest collection since the drives began.
Ron Helfrich, postal supervisor, and his letter carriers did an outstanding job. Also, many thanks to our 24 volunteers who gave up their day to sort and put away thousands of items.
Each week, we are fortunate to have churches, schools (especially Tracy Kitzman’s seventh-grade students at Reagan Middle School), individuals, organizations, and charitable institutions who give food and money to help in feeding the hungry.
Our shelves are filled again, but the need is great, as we serve approximately 300 families a month, which averages about 1,000 adults and children.
Our expenses are approximately $7,000 to $8,000 a month.
With your continued support and our dedicated volunteers, we are fighting hunger and giving hope. God bless you all.
