Leadership should start following law

Published: Saturday, June 15, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

In response to SVM reporter David Giuliani’s “Out here: Debates taking place somewhere else,” on June 10, Josie Whaley, you are correct, and you hit the nail on the head. Hopefully, the mayor and city council read this statement.

The first sentence in Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s “Guide to the Illinois Open Meetings Act” states, “The Illinois Open Meetings Act is designed to prohibit secret deliberations and action on matters which, due to their potential impact on the public, properly should be discussed in a public forum.”

Hey, Mayor Burke and your little army – where and when do you tend to start following the law?

Our leadership in Dixon would never do a closed meeting and decide what they are going to do with the public’s money; they would not do that. Ha, ha, what a joke.

To the city government: If you cannot handle or do the job you were hired or voted in to do, get out. We do not want you there.
