Herman J. Madison Sr.

DIXON – Herman J. Madison Sr., 86, of Dixon, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at his home. He worked for Henry Pratt Co. in Dixon before retiring.

He was born May 27, 1927, in Dixon, the son of Jacob and Mary (Willis) Madison. He served in the Air Force. He married Hazel J. Amlong on April 5, 1950, in Dixon. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2005.

Survivors include one son, Herman Madison Jr. of Dixon; three daughters, Melody (David) LeRette and Teresa (Tracey) Frederick, both of Maryville, Tenn., and Penny (Larry) Watson of Dixon; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; four stepgrandchildren; and one step-great-great grandson.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and LeRoy Madison; one sister, Patsy “Dolly” Lewis; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday and the funeral at 3 p.m. Monday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Rocky Fritz, pastor of First Baptist Church in Amboy, officiating. Burial, with full military graveside honors by the combined local veterans organizations, will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
