Group grateful for donations to buy building

Published: Monday, June 17, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

The Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society thanks community members for their generous support to make the purchase of the Lincoln Learning Center (formally the C&E Glass building) a reality.

This was a real grassroots effort by everyone that the community should be proud of. We would also like to thank Sauk Valley Media for its continuing support of the project.

We are now working with an architect to develop phase two of the project, which is remodeling the building to use for educational and community activities.

We will have the Lincoln Learning Center building open for public viewing from 1 to 4 p.m. June 22, which is when the Lincoln-Manahan Home Museum is also open. Please feel free to drop by so we can share our vision of the future with you.

Note to readers – Ed Ebersohl is president of the Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society.

Reader Poll

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
