Crundwell got to pick prison; others don’t

Wasn’t it nice that Rita Crundwell got to pick the prison she wanted so she could be closer to her boyfriend?

If she thinks he is going to wait around for her 16 or 17 years, she had better think again.

The federal prison said it tries to place an inmate close to family and friends. That is a crock. When a family member of mine was in a federal prison at the age of 18, he asked three times to be sent to a prison close to his family. The first time they sent him to California; the second time they sent him to Pennsylvania; and the third time they sent him to West Virginia.

But he wasn’t an important person, and he didn’t steal anywhere near $53 million.

Yes, he did wrong, and he had to pay for that, but they surely didn’t try to place him close to home, and he spent his time behind bars – unlike Rita.
