Tazewell Co. man gets 27 years for drug deaths

PEKIN (AP) — A 19-year-old from Tazewell County was sentenced to 27 years in prison for the methadone deaths of two central Illinois men.

The Pekin Daily Times says (http://bit.ly/12lOan2 ) Daughlton Calvin was sentenced Tuesday after being convicted of homicide in March.

Investigators say the Morton resident gave 19-year-old Cody Schillinger and 22-year-old Travis Whiteman liquid doses of the medication that's commonly used to treat heroin addiction. The two consumed the drugs shortly before their deaths last May.

The newspaper reports that Calvin could be released from prison in 19½ years.
