Cultural adventure planned

ROCKFORD – The Swedish Historical Society of Rockford will host Camp Sweden in July and August.

Children ages 6-12 are welcome to the camp daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 22-26 or July 29-Aug. 2 at the Erlander Home Museum, 404 S. Third St.

Children will learn about past and present Swedish customs; language and history; make and taste Swedish foods; experience hands-on arts and crafts; listen to music and theater; and go on field trips.

The cost is $100 per child for nonmembers; and $75 per child for society members; and $50 for each additional sibling.

The camp leader is Emeli Jansson of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Snacks will be provided, however, students will need to bring packed lunches. Parents and guardians will be welcome to a family festival and play on Friday of both weeks.

Enrollment is limited. Early registration is encouraged.
