Free class offers tools for quitting

ROCK FALLS – A free, 90-minute smoking cessation class is offered at 6:30 p.m. the third Monday of the month, except December, at Whiteside Health Department, 1300 W. Second St. The next class is Monday.

Judy Randall, a registered nurse and certified tobacco treatment specialist, leads the course, in which she provides participants with information they’ll need to choose how they want to quit.

Topics include how to identify your triggers, available medications, nicotine replacement technique, and coping strategies.

“I arm them with the tools they’ll need to be successful,” Randall said.

You do not need to be a county resident to attend, and you can attend as many times as you like.
