IHSA eyeing ‘success factor’ formula
During the IHSA Board of Directors’ meeting Monday, the board approved a recommendation to form a committee to review a potential “success factor” formula that could move schools who have had success well beyond the median of other schools in their classification up a class.
Also approved was a recommendation to authorize the classification cutoffs for the 2013-14 school year, which will be posted at ihsa.org today.

Tim Tebow is signing with the New England Patriots, ESPN is reporting.
A first-round draft pick in 2010 by Denver, Tebow helped the Broncos win the AFC West in 2011, then was traded to New York when Denver signed Peyton Manning. He threw only eight passes, completing six, ran 32 times for 102 yards and was used mostly to protect the punter.
Bears cut Rodriguez, re-sign Aromashodu
The Bears released fullback/tight end Evan Rodriguez, who was arrested twice since March.
The Bears also re-signed Devin Aromashodu, who spent the previous two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
Former Cub Grace released from jail
Former Cub Mark Grace was released from an Arizona jail after serving 4 months on a DUI conviction.
Grace, 48, was in prison in Phoenix after receiving his second DUI conviction last August.
Jones jailed for punching woman
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested and jailed on one count of assault after police say he allegedly punched a woman outside of a downtown bar last week.
Johnson jailed for patting lawyer on butt
After patting his lawyer on the butt, former NFL star Chad Johnson was given a 30-day jail term by Judge Kathleen McHugh, who did not think he was taking his court appearance seriously enough Monday.
Johnson, 35, was seconds away from working out a plea deal in a 2012 domestic violence case.
Kidd interested in Nets coaching job
Jason Kidd, who recently announced his retirement as a player, is pushing to become the Brooklyn Nets head coach.
According to a Yahoo! Sports report, top officials of the Nets organization are taking Kidd’s candidacy seriously.
Pistons hire Thunder assistant Cheeks
Thunder assistant coach Maurice Cheeks was named the head coach of the Pistons.
Cheeks previously was head coach of the 76ers and Trail Blazers. He has a 284-286 record in six full seasons and parts of two others.
Marshal ties after Canadian Grand Prix
A track marshal died Sunday from injuries sustained when a crane backed over him while he was tending to Esteban Gutierrez’s crashed car in the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
The 38-year-old worker has not been identified. He was airlifted to a Montreal hospital after being stabilized by race-track medical officials.
