MANLIUS – William E. Schisler, 84, of Princeton, formerly of Manlius, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison.

William was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Astoria Township, the son of Jacob E. and Julia A. (Hess) Schisler. He graduated from Astoria High School in 1946, then served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Virginia E. Easley on Aug. 21, 1949, in Springfield. She preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2013. He was a lifelong farmer and retired in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Craig Schisler of Polo and Kevin Schisler of Morrison, and two grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Doris West and Margaret Scrogum-Wickert.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff McIlrath officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Princeton American Legion Post 125. Burial will be at Manlius Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Manlius Cemetery and the American Heart Association.
