WALNUT – Summer activities are in full swing at Walnut Public Library, 101 Heaton St.

Donations for a silent auction taking place from July 3-7 can be viewed at the library. Among the items donated are four tickets to the July 19 Chicago White Sox and the Atlanta Braves baseball game.

Another set of four tickets are to the Aug. 2 Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers game.

Also up for bids are an Americana wicker basket with kitchen items, and a handmade wood shelving unit with four pegs created by a Walnut area resident.

A display of watercolor paintings continues at the library. The works were created by Walnut artist Gene Henrickson.

Used cell phones can be dropped off at the library. Each donation will be traded in for money to go toward the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning account.

Library staff will collect box tops for Bureau Valley North Elementary School during the summer. The tops can be left in a collection can at the circulation counter.

Readers are encouraged to keep track of their books for the summer reading program. Call the library at 815-379-2159 for more information.
