Paul Rod plans to attend Sauk Valley Community College to study electrical engineering. He is AFC High School's March Student of the Month.

Senior Paul Rod, 18, is AFC High School’s March Student of the Month. His parents are Martin and Jeannette, and his siblings are Kevin, 25; Emilie, 22; Ryan, 15, Audrey, 13; and Henry, 12.

Favorite classes: Ag mechanics, physical education, and art.

Top teacher: Travis Stauffer.

Extracurriculars: Football, basketball, baseball, FFA, and band.

After graduation: Will study electrical engineering at Sauk Valley Community College.

Paycheck: Manage my own lawn care business.

Survival guide: Don’t get shot, and always have a friend volleyball named “Wilson” if you’re stranded on a deserted island.

Best friend: Jesus, my savior.

Darts: The 1 percent who mess up things for the rest of us.

Useless knowledge: Your body replaces dead cells at such a rate that you have a new body every 7 years.

I’m in the dictionary next to: Perseverance.

Favorite musical group: Jamey Johnson.

Favorite actor: Mark Wahlberg.

Favorite movie: “Shooter.”

Favorite TV show: “Leverage.”

Favorite food: Chocolate chip pancakes.

Favorite place to shop: MC Sports.

Biggest fear: Spelling long words.

Least favorite class: Consumer education.

Personal trivia: I have had my right eardrum rebuilt after having many ear infections.

Dream job: Invent new technology or electronic gadgets.

Trading places: The early settlers, so I could see what America looked like before it was inhabited.

Trading spaces: Northern half of Florida.

Favorite website: YouTube.

Favorite trend: Mid-calf, black, Nike socks.

What would you do if you had $100,000? Save all of it, then put small portions of it in low-risk investments.

What do you wish your high school offered? Creation science class.

Advice for freshmen: Pave your own road, because if you follow others, you will get lost and your individuality will be gone.
