Gerontologists to speak at seminar

DIXON – Registration is due by June 18 for the Alzheimer’s Association’s 16th annual Rock River Professional Education Conference.

The program will be from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. June 19 at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2.

Gerontologists Marilyn Woelke and Linda Gilman of GeriEd Services in Bettendorf, Iowa, will discuss difficult behaviors and activities to keep those with dementia engaged.

Dr. Ronald Zec of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield will give an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and an update on research efforts.

The cost is $65, with continuing education units for an additional $15. Visit alz.org/illinoiscentral to download registration forms, and return the forms as detailed.
