Aloha Shack and Kokomo's open for the season

Two seasonal businesses have opened to serve shaved ice and other summertime staples.

Aloha Shack opened Sunday in the west end of the parking lot at Northland Mall, 2900 E. Lincolnway in Sterling. It serves shaved ice in numerous flavors and bubble smoothies, which have boba (also known as pearl tapioca), from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Kokomo’s Shaved Ice opened about a month ago now at 528 1/2 W. Route 30 in Rock Falls. It sells shaved ice and short orders from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
