Three arrested on drug, weapons charges

ROCK FALLS – Three Rock Falls residents were arrested shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday after a search of their apartment turned up two pistols, ammunition, cocaine and marijuana, police said in a news release.

Carolyn Delgado, 40, her son, Thomas L. Simms, 22, and Devin D. Nettz, 21, lived together in the 400 block of Ash Avenue, Police Chief Mike Kuelper said.

Delgado is charged with possession of 3.3 grams of a controlled substance, possession of 23.3 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner Identification card, and possession of ammunition without a FOID card.

She also was arrested on a Whiteside County warrant on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Simms is charged with possession of 3.3 grams of a controlled substance, possession of 23.3 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, possession of a firearm as with a previous felony conviction, and possession of ammunition without a FOID card.

Delgado and Simms were in Whiteside County Jail Thursday on $20,000 and $30,000 bonds, respectively.

Nettz was charged with possession of 3.8 grams of marijuana, a misdemeanor, and also was arrested on a Whiteside County warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor retail theft charge. He pleaded guilty Thursday in both cases and as part of a plea agreement was given 14 days in jail for each, sentences to run concurrently.

The search came as a result of two drug investigations in Rock Falls the past year, the release said. No further details were available.

In 2011, Simms was sentenced in Whiteside County to 2 year’s probation for possession of marijuana, court records show.
