Dixon bike rider charged with dealing marijuana

DIXON – A 35-year-old bicyclist who police say failed to stop at a stop sign now faces 2 to 5 years in prison if convicted of dealing marijuana.

Eric D. Dixon, of Dixon, was pulled over for the traffic infraction and subsequently charged with unlawful possession with intent to deliver 30 to 500 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana, which carries 1 to 3 years, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

He was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Boyd Street and North Dixon Avenue, Officer Doug Lehman said.

He was in Lee County Jail Thursday on $50,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing next Wednesday.

Dixon was convicted of burglary in 1999 and got 4 years of probation; in 2009, he pleaded guilty to theft and got 2 years, 6 months of probation, both in Lee County.
