Sarah M. Kamp
BYRON – Sarah M. Kamp, 32, of Byron, died while in the early stages of pregnancy Monday, May 20, 2013, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born April 9, 1981, in Winfield, the daughter of William and Leah (Bata) Camp. She was married to Jason Kamp on Feb. 13, 2010, in Streamwood. Sarah was a graduate of Glenbard North High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in English and her master’s degree in English education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. She had been an English teacher at Polo High School for the past 9 years. Sarah lived in Byron the past year, and previously had lived in Forreston since 2004. She was a devoted mother to her son and teacher to her students. Sarah loved bargain hunting and food.
She is survived by her husband, Jason of Byron; 21-month-old-son, Nathan; mother, Leah (John) Porter of Woodstock; father, Bill Camp of South Florida; brother, Matthew William (Karen) Camp of Harvard; maternal grandmother, Virginia Bata; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. Seventh St., Oregon. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Doc Newcomb, pastor of Disciples United Methodist Church in Mount Morris, officiating.
