Carnival in Rock Falls

ROCK FALLS – St. Andrew Catholic Grade School once again is sponsoring a spring carnival the old Reliant site along the riverfront downtown.

Carnival times are from 5 to 11 p.m. today; from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Farmers markets open

The Dixon Farmers Market is open from 7 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Saturday through October in Haymarket Square, 317 W. Third St. Call 815-284-3306.

Saturday is the first day of the season at Morrison Farmers Market, open 8 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Oct. 5 at 202 E. Lincolnway, behind the Heritage Museum. Go to or call 815-772-3757.

The Rock Falls Farmers Market may open this weekend at Fourth Avenue and Second Street; it runs from 7 a.m. to noon or so Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Call 815-625-4500.

Blues and Bluegrass

FRANKLIN GROVE – If it's the third Friday of the month, it's Blues and Bluegrass night at the H.I. Lincoln Building, 136 N. Elm St. Open stage acoustic gospel, folk, country, blues and bluegrass will be performed, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is free; donations are accepted to help with the upkeep of the historic building.

Car show at Dixon Rehab

DIXON – As part of its celebration of National Nursing Home Week, Dixon Health Care and Rehabilitation Center is putting on a car show at 2 p.m. today at its facility at 800 Division St. Free Culver's sundaes will be available.

Admission is free for spectators and exhibitors. Any vehicle is welcome to participate; call 815-284-3393 for more information.

Lincoln Highway show

FRANKLIN GROVE – The second annual Lincoln Highway car show runs, or should we say parks, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday downtown.

It will feature all kinds of vehicles, vendors, homemade food, a 50/50 drawing and music by 3-D Sound Company. Cost to exhibit a vehicle is $12. Best car, truck and motorcycle awards, and a People’s Choice award, will be given. Admission is free to spectators.

The historic H.I. Lincoln Building will be open, and the Lincoln Highway mural will be dedicated at 3 p.m.
