CHADWICK – Mildred Tripp, 81, of Sterling, formerly of Chadwick, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Mildred was born July 22, 1931, in Lanark, the daughter of Floyd and Ida (Michael) Tripp. Mildred was disabled all of her life, but was very active and made the most of life. At one time, she worked as a newspaper deliveryperson for the Clinton Herald and the Freeport Journal. She resided at Sterns Square in Sterling for more than 30 years. The residents and workers at Stern Square were her best friends.
Mildred was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Chadwick. She enjoyed embroidery and music, especially country music. She was active in the Special Olympics and received many awards. Mildred loved going to any church and attending family reunions.
Mildred is survived by a brother, Allen (Georgia) Tripp of Sterling; a sister-in-law, Florence Tripp of Chadwick; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Irma Williams and Bernadine Messenger; three brothers, Charles, Kenneth, and Lyle Tripp; and both parents.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Hope United Methodist Church in Chadwick. Burial will be at Chadwick Cemetery.
