MELBOURNE, Fla. – Mavis J. Norman of Melbourne, Fla., died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, after a long and courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was 82. We are grateful for the thoughts and prayers that continue to stream her way. Her life ended in peace with her family close at hand.

Mavis was born in Dixon, and lived in many areas of the country before meeting her husband, Arnie, in New Jersey, where they settled and raised a family. Upon Arnie’s retirement in 1981, they moved to Melbourne. Mavis enjoyed working very much, especially her 16 years at Slug-A-Bug of Melbourne.

She is survived by her children, Larry of Port St. John, Fla., Rick of Felton, Calif., and Debbie of Cohasset, Mass.; her favorite son-in-law, Scott; her grandchildren, Falicia, Hilary, Emily, Callum, and Margot; and her very dear niece, Cheryl; and nephew, Ron.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; and her grandson, Tyler.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 S. Hickory St., Melbourne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Health First of Melbourne, 1900 Dairy Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904.

Visit to send condolences.
