Board to consider middle school improvements

Published: Friday, May 17, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

ROCK FALLS – Rock Falls Middle School could see some improvements this summer.

The Rock Falls Elementary School District will apply for a $50,000 matching grant from the state to replace the bleachers, as well as classroom windows and doors at the middle school.

The district will use existing Health/Life Safety funds plus working cash funds or operations and maintenance reserves to pay for its share of the project, Superintendent Dan Arickx said.

The project is estimated to cost $120,000, so after the grant, the district will be responsible for $70,000, Arickx said.

The school board must approve a Health/Life Safety amendment to apply for the grant.

The board meets at 5 p.m. Monday in Room 3 at Merrill Elementary School, 600 Fourth Ave. Call 815-626-2604 for an agenda or more information.
