S. Jean Knuth

ROCK FALLS – S. Jean Knuth, 84, of Rock Falls, died peacefully Monday, May 13, 2013, at her home.

Jean was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Belvidere, the daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Storey) Snavely. She married Donald P. Knuth Sr. in October 1945, in Sterling. He preceded her in death. Jean worked as an assembler for Frantz Bearing Division for more than 20 years. She was a past member of First Presbyterian Church in Sterling, Sterling Moose Club, and Royal Neighbors of America. Jean enjoyed gambling at the casinos, camping in Lyndon, shopping, gardening, her canaries, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her fiancé, Harold Packer of Dixon; three daughters, Pamela (Ernie Little) Leach, Debbie (Bill) Anderson, and Nancy Newman, and one son, Donald Knuth Jr., all of Rock Falls; one sister, Nancy (Richard) Gebhardt of Sterling; nine grandchildren, Kerri (Bob), Krista (Curt), Shellie (Rob), Traci, Erik, Brian (Melissa), Bill (Tasha), Shawn (Alicen), and April; 15 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Brittani, Samantha, Hunter, Jacob, Kennedi, Garrett, Nicholas, Riley, Bryce, Jaycie, Jersey, Sarah, and Will; and one great-great-grandson, Haidyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Susan McCoy; and one son-in-law, David Leach.

Graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. today at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, with the Rev. Christina Berry officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Happy Tails Animal Shelter.
