Marie S. Vetter

HOOPPOLE – Marie S. Vetter, 74, of Hooppole, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Marie was born Nov. 27, 1938, in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Sternal) Farganus. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Vetter on Aug. 20, 1976, in Decatur.  He preceded her in death on June 5, 2002. She was a homemaker. She was a member of and the treasurer at Royal Neighbors. She loved to play dominoes with her friends.

She is survived by three sons, Tony Sommers of Beardstown, and Alan (Cheryl Ince) Sommers and Terry (Catherine) Sommers, both of Hooppole; one stepdaughter, Susan Stontz of Kewanee; stepson, Dennis (Alice) Vetter of Sterling; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; six stepgrandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Farganus of Moline; one sister, Dorothy Hayes of Willowbrook; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Joe.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole, with the Rev. Dan Wright, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Hooppole Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
