3 crash victims will be honored

ROCKFORD (AP) – Three people killed in a medical helicopter crash in northern Illinois will have their names added to a planned Rockford memorial wall.

The Rockford Register Star reports that the names of the victims of the December crash will be added to the Winnebago County 9/11 Emergency Responders Memorial. So far about $150,000 of the needed $911,001 has been raised for the project. Organizers hope to finish the memorial by Sept. 11, 2016.

It was announced Tuesday that the helicopter crash victims would be added to the memorial.

The crash killed pilot Andy Olesen and flight nurses Jim Dillow and Karen Hollis. The helicopter crashed in Lee County on the way to pick up a patient in Mendota.
