DIXON – A 20-year-old Dixon man charged with criminal sex abuse of a 16-year-old girl is free on bond awaiting a June 5 court hearing.
Andrew S. Daniels was arrested May 7; he is accused of having sex with the girl once in fall 2012, when he was 19, Dixon Police Lt. Clay Whelan said. He posted $500 of his $5,000 bond and was released.
The girl told police in February that she could not remember the date of the incident, which took place at Daniels’ home in the 300 block of Highland Avenue, Whelan said.
Daniels also is charged with five counts of theft, three of them felonies, in a separate Lee County case.
Police say he and two teenagers stole items to scrap in rural parts of the county.
Some items were found at a local scrap yard; sales records showed that Daniels sold the parts to the yard, Sheriff John Varga said.
He has a pretrial conference June 20 in that case.
