Don’t disregard value of region’s prime farmland

Obviously, Mr. Ketchum has not considered “the facts” presented to the County Board by the Lee County Zoning Board. He has chosen to ignore “the facts” and promote his personal agenda without proper open discussion.

Many of the 53 turbines planned by Mainstream Renewable Power would be constructed on land that is classified as “flood plain.” Landowners are forbidden to construct any building on such land without special permission, which is strictly regulated. Mainstream apparently seems to have permission to place turbines where it sees fit.

Mr. Ketchum apparently disregards the value of our country’s most precious commodity: our prime Sauk Valley farmland.

He also evidently prefers the tax money over the health and welfare of the Lee County families living within or near the Hamilton and East Grove wind projects.
