John R. Misar

DIXON – John R. Misar, 84, of Dixon, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at his home. 

He was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Samuel and Lillian (Jedlicka) Misar. He worked for Oak Park Federal Savings, then Great American Federal Savings, for more than 30 years before retiring.

John was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon and participated in the ministry of care. He was a veteran of the Army. John married Catherine Coyne on June 2, 1956, in Franklin Park.

Survivors include his wife; children, John (Marybride) Misar of Wheaton, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Link of Lakewood, Ohio, and Paul (Christine) Misar of Lombard; six granddaughters, Sarah, Caitlin, and Charlotte Link, and Emily, Hannah, and Madeline Misar; and one sister, Lillian Reading of Lake Barrington.

John was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m., Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. A prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Bernard Sehr officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
