IHSA approves new acclimatization policy
The IHSA Board of Directors approved changes to Policy 13, which governs regulations for safety and heat acclimatization for preseason football practices.
The IHSA outlined a day-by-day itinerary for coaches with practice time limits, required rest time between practices, and equipment allowed on each date.
The IHSA will offer interacting webinars for coaches during the next few weeks.
State finals set for May 31, June 1
The postponed IHSA state bass fishing finals, originally scheduled for May 3-4, will be held May 31 and June 1 at Carlyle Lake in Carlyle.
The lone Sauk Valley-area representatives will be Newman freshmen Hunter Webb, Logan Witman and Seiler Noble.
Little Rockets camps are early-, mid-June
The Little Rockets football camps will be held June 3-6 and 10-13.
The first set of dates are for grades 1-8, the latter for grades 5-8. Registration is $15 for grades 1-4 and $20 for 5-8.

Vikings will play at
U of M’s stadium
The Minnesota Vikings and the University of Minnesota reached an agreement for the NFL team to play at the college’s TCF Bank Stadium during the construction of the franchise’s new building in 2014 and 2015.
Walter Payton’s mother dies
Alyne Payton, the 87-year-old mother of late Bears running back Walter Payton, passed away last Sunday night following an extended illness.
League admits bad call, but result is final
The league admitted that “an improper call” was made in the ninth inning of Wednesday’s 4-3 Indians victory over the Athletics at Progressive Field.
