CLINTON, Iowa – The Pinta and the Nina are coming to Clinton to educate the public and school children June 11-17 at Clinton Marina, 511 Riverview Drive.

The public is welcome to walk aboard for self-guided tours. The sailing museums will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 12-16. Reservations are not needed.

The Nina, built by hand and without power tools, has been called “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built,” by Archaeology magazine. The Pinta, built in Brazil, is a larger version of the archetypal caravel. The caravel was a Portuguese ship used by Columbus and many early explorers to discover the world.

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for students 5-16, and free for children 4 and younger.

Schools and organizations may schedule a 30-minute guided tour with a crew member by Calling 787-672-2152 or columfnd@surfbvi.com. A minimum of 15 people is required. The cost is $5 each. Go to www.thenina.com for more information.
