Clarification for Thursday, May 9, 2013

Published: Thursday, May 9, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

Information about a tuition agreement between Sauk Valley Community College and Western Illinois University reported in Wednesday’s edition was incomplete.

Under the agreement, local students pay Sauk’s tuition for 2 years, then would be locked into paying the WIU tuition for the third year of a new, 3-year degree in recreation, park and tourism administration.

Students enroll concurrently at both institutions. They save money by paying community college prices for 2 years and a locked-in rate for a third year; plus they save by completing the program in 3 years, rather than the traditional 4 years.
