Sidewalk program returns in Dixon

Published: Wednesday, May 8, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

DIXON – All citizens within the city limits are again eligible to participate in the city’s sidewalk maintenance program.

The city will provide the labor and equipment for all residents who wish to have their sidewalks repaired or replaced.

Each homeowner will be responsible for the cost of the cement at $125 per cubic yard.

On average, about 20 to 30 people participate in the program each year.

When a project involves replacement, work consists of the complete removal and disposal of the existing sidewalk; all excavating necessary; the forming and pouring of sidewalks; and any necessary backfilling and landscaping.

To participate in the sidewalk program, call Jane Haws in the building department at 815-288-1403 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The list is first come, first served.
