Sauk offers new program with WIU

DIXON – Local college students next year will have the option to stay close to home – and pay community college prices – while they work on a bachelor's degree.

Sauk Valley Community College on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Quad Cities campus of Western Illinois University to allow Sauk students to enroll concurrently at both institutions to pursue a degree in recreation, park and tourism administration.

Students in the program, which can be completed in 3 years, can take classes at Sauk (with one at Western) for the first 2 years, then take classes at the Quad Cities campus of Western in the final year.

"With affordability being so difficult, being able to save tuition dollars while obtaining an associate's and bachelor's degree is a wonderful thing," Sauk President George Mihel, said in a press release.

More information on the program is available from Sauk Academic Vice President Alan Pfeifer at 815-835-6218.
