Learn details of fire safety

DIXON – A free open house for Sauk Valley Community College’s fire science degree and certificate programs will take place Thursday.

The program will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the college, 173 state Route 2. Anyone interested in fire science can attend. Counselors will be on hand to speak with students about registering for fire science and emergency medical services courses.

Demonstrations of an automotive extrication and the fire science program’s flashover simulator will take place. Those attending will be able to take fire truck rides and building tours. Helicopters and fire trucks will be displayed. Refreshments will be served.
