STERLING – Police have determined that a 13-year-old girl's claims she was kidnapped Saturday night were unfounded, officials said Monday evening.

About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the girl reportedly walked away from a boxing event at the Latin American Social Club and apparently went to a nearby house. At some point after that, she reported she had been forced into a van by two men and later released.

Police spent Saturday night, Sunday and Monday investigating. No further information was released.
