Writer has a choice; so do other people

Once more in response to Charles Becker’s recent letter on April 27, it is clear he had not seen the refutations that had been directed toward him.

The first half of his letter consisted of repetitive preaching, which means nothing in validity to his point. After this, he states that point. His claims were that gun control, abortion and homosexuality are evil.

Gun control, Mr. Becker, is not about disarming responsible citizens. This was the first error. It is about making people prove they are responsible before getting the guns.

As for the ban on specific weaponry, you would still have access to shotguns, hunting rifles, and small arms. The fact that people are so wholeheartedly desiring assault rifles and other combat firearms makes me feel uneasy about the priorities of some people in this country.

Also, Mr. Becker, your opposition to someone’s right to love who they want, or to abortion, is not and never will be validated by your personal religion. If you think otherwise, please look at the First Amendment.

The entire debate boils down to this: If you don’t like abortion, don’t have one. If you don’t like gay marriage, don’t marry a gay person. Their choice has nothing to do with you.
