Rockets roll past Trojans on road

Rock Falls routs Mendota; Mustangs handle Comets; Panthers beat BV

Eddie Nelson struck out 14 in a two-hit shutout, Steven Armoska homered and drove in five runs, and the Rock Falls Rockets went on the road Tuesday and routed Big Northern West foe Mendota 11-1 in five innings.

Armoska, Nelson and Austin Donoho had three hits each, and Nelson also homered and drove in two runs. Nelson (3-2) walked three to send Rock Falls to 12-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

Morrison 16, Newman 4: Alex Volckmann doubled twice, singled and drove in six runs as the Mustangs routed the visiting Comets.

Alex Fischbach was the winning pitcher, and helped his own cause with three RBIs. Kollin Burn added a pair of RBIs. Kyle Moore ripped a solo homer for Newman.

Erie-Prophetstown 6, Bureau Valley 1: Kallen Jepson allowed one unearned run and three hits in six innings in Prophetstown to keep the Panthers undefeated in Three Rivers play.

Zach Inskeep tripled and drove in two runs for E-P (13-7, 9-0), while Owen McConnell and Carter Ames each had two hits and an RBI. Keaton Wagneknecht took the loss for the Storm.

Oregon 14, Stillman Valley 3: The Hawks pounded out 16 hits as they blew out the Cardinals in Stillman Valley.

Tyler Blume doubled, singled, knocked in three runs and scored three times to pace the Oregon attack, and Sayer Reynolds had four hits and scored twice. Alex Cain was 2-for-2 and scored three runs, while Adam Bettner singled twice and scored two runs. Cain was the winning pitcher.

Forreston-Polo 7, Durand-Pecatonica 5: The Cardinals scored four runs in the top of the seventh, then held off a Du-Pec rally for an NUIC East win in Pecatonica.

Sam Vincer had two hits and three RBIs for Forreston-Polo (9-6, 6-2). Ethan Groom allowed two runs and four hits through six innings, striking out six and walking two.

Eastland 11, Lena-Winslow 3: Zach Randecker allowed one earned run in going the distance in a win over the Panthers in Lena.

Austin Weaver singled twice and scored four runs for Eastland (8-3, 4-1 NUIC West).

Milledgeville 7, Dakota 2, 9 inn.: Caleb Skoog went 4-for-5 and drove in two runs as the Missiles outlasted the Indians in Dakota.

Kameron DawTyne doubled twice and scored two runs for Milledgeville (7-8, 5-7 NUIC East). Jordan Harris pitched two innings of scoreless relief to get the win.

College baseball

Skyhawks drop two at home: Sauk Valley dropped a pair of one-sided home games, 14-1 and 13-2, to Black Hawk. The Skyhawks are now 15-18, and 7-9 in Arrowhead play.
