DIXON – Betty Jane Morgan, 85, of Dixon, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She worked as a licensed practical nurse, retiring in 1992.

Betty was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Dixon, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Barnes) Clayton. She married John Morgan on Jan. 20, 1981, in Dixon. He preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1995.  

Survivors include three sons, Harold “Bud” (Pat) Lempke and Randy “Joe” Lempke, both of Dixon, and John (Jennifer) Morgan of Caledonia; two daughters, Maxine Ashbey of Sterling and Roberta (Terry) Davis of Red Oak, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; twins, Kathleen and Billy Lempke, in infancy; four brothers, George, Al, Richard, and Edward Clayton; and five sisters, Ethel Buccola, Maxine Clayton, Marian Clayton, Joanne Hubbell, and Lois Kelly.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Pat Chadwick, pastor of 20th Street Missionary Baptist Church in Rockford, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
