Genniel M. Howlett

OREGON – Genniel M. Howlett, 91, lifelong Oregon area resident, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.

She was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Paynes Point, the daughter of LeRoy and Alice (Griswold) Clapper. She married Douglas R. Howlett on Aug. 30, 1941, in Canton, Mo. He died Dec. 31, 1985. Genniel was a 1940 graduate of Oregon High School. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and flower gardening. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oregon and its Ladies’ Circles.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Lyle) Moore of Lanark; sons, Gary (Joyce) Howlett of Oregon and Larry Howlett of DeKalb; grandchildren, Lori (Kurt) Daine, David (Raynelle) Howlett, Kathleen (Kyle) Schnorr, Stephen (Karrie) Howlett, Andrea (Emmanuel) Nacionales Audrey (Joseph) Simmerman, Greg (Caroline) Howlett, Amy (Ben) Lindner, Jason (Jerica) Howlett, Lisa (Bret) Guenzler, Leann (James) Heimerdinger, and Linda (Adrian) Krueger; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Randy Ray; a brother; and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Oregon. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Oregon.

Memorials in Genniel’s name may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Oregon or Rock River Center in Oregon.
