State Police to participate in drug take-back project

STERLING – Illinois State Police will accept unused, unneeded and expired prescription medications Saturday, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s annual drug take-back day.

Drugs may be dropped off in designated boxes at District 1 headquarters at 3107 E. Lincolnway, no questions asked.

Sterling and Dixon police also will accept drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Whiteside County Senior Center, 1207 W. Ninth St., Sterling, and at Dixon Public Safety Building, 220 S. Hennepin Ave.

They also have drop boxes available year-round, as does the Whiteside County Courthouse, 200 E. Knox St. in Morrison.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe and convenient means of disposal of drugs and to educate the public about potential abuse of those medications.
