Native American show June 10

DIXON – The Lee County Genealogical Society will present a program on Chief Blackhawk and Early Settlement in Northwest Illinois.

The free presentation will be at 7 p.m. June 10 at the Dixon Historical Center, 205 W. Fifth St. The early 1800s, the peace treaty of 1804, the Native American removal, the fight of Blackhawk to return to his country, and the influx of settlers until the 1920s, will be covered.

Refreshments will be served.

Changes are being made at the center. There are two new exhibits on display which include a farmhouse, a barn, and a tool shed. The center also will have a new name, the Northwest Territory Historical Center. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
