CHARLOTTE, N.C. – John Searing of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Rock Falls, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at the age of 86.
John was born June 12, 1926, in Huron, S.D. He was the son of Emil and Rebecca Searing. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Irene Shinderling on Nov. 20, 1948. They lived in South Dakota, then moved to Rock Falls. John owned his own remodeling business until retiring. They moved in 1995 to North Carolina.
He is survived by his son, Daniel of North Carolina; two daughters, Diane Searing of Nachusa and Kelly Cassada of Mint Hill, N.C.; and a brother, Toney of Rock Falls. John was blessed with two granddaughters, Melissa Searing and Candi Cleavinger; two grandsons, Jason Schuetz and Ryan Abernathy; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Batten.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his son, Jack; his parents; and his brother, Ernie.
The funeral was in Charlotte. Local graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating.
