County Line Road project set for this summer

Stretch from Lee to Perry roads will be resurfaced

DIXON – The state is planning to resurface County Line Road from Perry to Lee roads.

The project, expected to take place this summer, will involve 31/2 miles on the road, which is owned by Lee County and is on the border with DeKalb County.

William Charles Construction Co. of Loves Park was the lowest of six bidders for the roadwork at $428,496.

The Department of Transportation will manage the project.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced it in a news release Thursday. He crossed party lines by including a quote from Rep. Tom Demmer, R-Dixon.

“An efficient, well-maintained network of roads and railways help connect Illinois businesses with the rest of the world,” Demmer said in the release.

In an interview with Sauk Valley Media’s editorial board the day before, Demmer said he liked Quinn’s plan for road improvements in the area.

“We have an impressive transportation network in northern Illinois,” he said.

The County Line Road project is part of the Illinois Jobs Now program. Quinn has touted the program as the largest capital construction program in the state’s history.
