‘The Music Man’ auditions May 5

MOUNT CARROLL – Auditions for “The Music Man” will be held at 2 p.m. May 5 at Timber Lake Playhouse, 8215 Black Oak Road.

Parts are available for 12 to 15 adults, teens and up to five children who must sing. Anyone who plays a musical instrument, and mature performers are encouraged to audition. Dancing is not required, but is preferred for teen performers.

TLP also is casting the roles of Winthrop in “The Music Man” and JoJo in “Seussical, the Musical.” Wanted are boys who read at a 10-year-old level and are strong singers. Several featured roles for girls in the play also are available.

Sign-in begins at 1:30 p.m.; people will be seen in the order in which they arrive, beginning at 2 p.m. Those auditioning should prepare 16 bars of a song in a traditional musical theatre style and be prepared to tell a joke. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.

A dance call for teens and children will be held as close to 3 p.m. as possible.
