KANKAKEE (AP) — The Illinois unemployment office in Kankakee is closing.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security said Monday that the office will close over the summer. The Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/10x8O4a) that the 15 people who work in the office will be transferred to other locations. The office serves residents in Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee and Livington counties. The closure means the nearest offices will be in Joliet and Chicago Heights.

The department will have closed 16 offices over the last year and a half, including the Kankakee office.
