WALNUT – Vintage Tech Recyclers and Walnut Public Library have formed a team to recycle old cell phones. A drop box is available at the library, 101 Heaton St.
Walnut Public Library also will have an electronics recycle day from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11.
The event will be in conjunction with the town-wide garage sales. Electronics may be dropped off on the Main Street side of the building. Early dropoffs will not be accepted.
Acceptable items are all computers and parts, networking equipment, personal digital assistants, satellite dishes, servers, cell and regular phones, cable equipment, cathode ray tubed and LCD monitors. DVD and MP3 players, iPods; VCRs, printers, computer peripherals, TV’s and remotes, USP batteries, external drives, video game consoles, typewriters, projectors, cash registers, and bagless vacuum cleaners also will be accepted. Other items include, corded or rechargeable carpet sweepers, small household appliances, shaving equipment, hair dryers, cutters and curling irons, electric toothbrushes, holiday lights, massagers, clock, and radios.
Heaters, fans, cameras, metal tools, small saws, and sanders also may be recycled.
Proceeds from cell phone and recycling programs will be used to purchase a furnace and air conditioner.
