ROCKFORD – Sandra Elizabeth Card, 75, of Sterling, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Rockford Memorial Hospital with her loved ones by her side.

Sandra was born April 27, 1937, in Sterling, the daughter of Darrell and Wanda (Reinboth) Farthing. She was the beloved wife of Robert Card, whom she married on Oct. 9, 1955, in Rock Falls. Sandra worked in the medical field until her retirement. She started her career with Dr. Tom McDonald. She later went to work as a receptionist manager for Sterling-Rock Falls Clinic. Sandra ended her career as the office manager for a gastroenterologist clinic in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Sandra’s greatest pleasure in life was raising, showing, and judging her beloved German shepherds. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and a licensed German shepherd dog judge.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; one sister, Jill Farthing-Hansen, of Melbourne, Fla.; one niece, Amanda Lucas; and one grandnephew, Logan Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Tom Farthing, in infancy.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Janice Card Memorial.
