Andrew LeFevre scattered eight hits over six innings to lead the AFC baseball team to a 9-6 win over Durand-Pecatonica on Monday in Pecatonica.
LeFevre (1-0) struck out seven batters and walked one. Troy Mairs, Matt Gendusa and Blake Murphy each had two RBIs for the Raiders (3-4, 1-3 NUIC East).
Durand-Pecatonica (2-6, 1-2) scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to make things interesting.
Geneseo 4, Rock Falls 3: The Rockets squandered a 3-2 lead entering the seventh inning in a road loss to the Maple Leafs.
Dustin Huycke (1-1) took the loss. He allowed just two earned runs, but hurt himself with eight walks, and Rock Falls (9-6) committed three errors.
Eddie Nelson homered, and Steven Armoska tripled to pace a six-hit Rocket attack.
Riverdale 13, Amboy 12: The Clippers led 12-4 after 4˝ innings, but fell apart after that in a road loss to the Rams.
Riverdale (2-5, 2-4 Three Rivers) scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth, with the help of three walks and four errors by Amboy (10-7, 3-5). Jason Hoehn’s single in the bottom of the sixth was the game-winner.
Drew Fordham, Andrew Klein, Taylor Ikens and Aaron Hubbell each drove in two runs for the Clippers, who rapped out 14 hits but committed seven errors.
Forreston-Polo 10, West Carroll 9: Colton Meyer’s single in the bottom of the seventh drove in the game-winner for the Cardinals in a wild win over the Thunder in Forreston.
Ethan Groom’s single earlier in the seventh tied the score at 9-9. Jonah Drake threw one inning of scoreless relief to get the win.
United Township 8, Newman 1: Luke LeMay won a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Bryce Verlinden at No. 5 singles to score the lone point for the Comets (5-6) in a road loss to the Panthers.
Winnebago 94, Byron 61, Rock Falls 30: Travis Johnson won both hurdles races for the Rockets at Winnebago.
Johnson’s times were 15.6 in the 110 hurdles and 44.08 in the 300 hurdles. Also for Rock Falls, Mason Thompson won the long jump (21-5 1/2).
Marcos win at Amboy: Brian Cavanaugh won the triple jump (40-1 1/4) and tied for the high jump (5-10) to lead Polo-Forreston to top honors at the Gordon Mool Invite in Amboy.
The Marcos scored 186.5 points, while Amboy was second with 131.
The Clippers were paced by Cooper Nelson, first in the 100 (11.2) and 300 hurdles (43.29). Amboy also swept the four relays.
Storm rules at Elmwood: Kristian Konneck and Logan Hoffert each won two events as Bureau Valley took top honors in the 11-team Elmwood-Brimfield Invite.
The Storm had 119 points, nine more than runner-up Eureka.
Konneck took the 100 (11.49) and 200 (11.52), while Hoffert led the way in the 300 hurdles (41.48) and triple jump (40-5).
Moraine Valley 9, Sauk Valley 0: The Skyhawks were swept at home, with the closest match coming at No. 2 doubles.
Granit Tefiku and Gavin Jensen won the first set of that match 6-3, then lost 6-1 before falling 10-4 in a third-set tiebreaker.
Sauk (2-6) hosts Oakton in the regular-season finale Wednesday, then starts Region IV tournament play in Moraine Valley on Friday.
